Summary of tasks^
(Not including general ID tasks during course development):
COURSE DEVELOPMENT:
- uploaded/organized content on WebCT
- requested new course shells to move content from development shells
- resolved technical glitches, e.g. related to uploading/playing videos
- assisted with planning/delivery of instructor WebCT orientation via eLIVE (Christina did the majority of this)
Course Delivery: Course #1 Fall 2006)^
- requested student/instructor accounts for WebCT -- these were WebCT accounts only, but for the next cohort will need to be proper sponsored accounts requested through ACS ($25 per account); instructor WebCT-only accounts may or may not work after moving to Vista
- provided suggestions/feedback on student orientation/scavenger hunt (Christina did the majority of this)
- set up weekly discussion forums for first course delivery
- enrolled students in WebCT
- answered instructor questions/provided support during delivery via phone/email
- monitored Q&A forum; made suggestions to instructors, assisted with resolving student access/WebCT problems
- set up assignment submissions
- assisted Brad with modifying course evaluation survey
- set up course evaluation in WebCT; forwarded results to DSRF
- tracked student/instructor suggestions for improvements during course revision
- helped coordinated mailing of course readings (this was only a problem this delivery because students didn't have sponsored accounts and couldn't access online library readings; should be resolved mostly for next group)
Notes from first delivery of Course #1
- module 1 Clarke reading missing - should we put together a course pack for the next delivery?
- learners need clear instructions for accessing course
- have orientation module available before course begins
- some confusion over using Assignments tool -- orientation could include submit a sample assignment instead of send email to instructor?
- make sure all Assignment settings are the same - i.e. whether they can take back and resubmit their assignment
- top 10 online facilitation tips?
- clarification of who to contact for help (instructors and students)
- there are no instructions for using the videos
- more instructions/resources/suggestions for writing a group paper
- reiterate that journal entries are due in one batch (apart from sample); not to be submitted weekly
